If you are thinking of organizing your wedding, I encourage you to take note of my advice.
First, congratulations! If you have reached this point, it means that you cannot imagine your life without the other person. This is the only way to make such an important decision.
And you want to shout it out to the four winds, to involve all those who are part of your life: your family, your friends… That is why you are going to celebrate with them.
And here we come to the first point: we want to celebrate.
This has to be our goal, to have fun and to get excited together. I mean that organizing your own wedding cannot be, at any time, a reason for stress, for disputes, for assuming unbearable expenses and this will only be achieved if we organize ourselves well and do not deviate from what we are capable of assuming.
1- Any event that we want to celebrate, any! It needs a good organization.
To get it, nothing is as easy as using paper and pencil or a good Excel, to be able to make a list, in which we will gather all those aspects that we are going to need. I’m talking about the search for the place, the catering, the civil or ecclesiastical procedures. Make that list.
Afterwards, it’s just a matter of distributing it in the calendar, week by week, month by month, and fulfilling the objectives that we have set. Don’t forget my favorite phrase:
«The key to a good host is good organization.»
2- The second point I recommend is that you surround yourself with good professionals.
Many suppliers are involved in a wedding: flowers, photos, video, catering, coaches… Ask your friends, search the networks… You will always find the ideal supplier for your style and your budget, don’t worry.
3 – Do not forget, at any time, that it is your day, not that of others.
What do I mean by this? Well, simply that each of us has a style. The worst thing we can do is to fall into the temptation of wanting to do a «typical» wedding, having to hire a series of services because «everybody does it», because «if not, it won’t look like a wedding». It’s not true! The more personalized it is, the more it identifies you, the more you will enjoy it and the better it will be remembered. If your wedding is different from the others, after years your friends will still remember that day in a very special way. I love to hear guests say «this wedding could only be yours, no one else’s».
I encourage you to enjoy the preparations, to laugh a lot and not to let the wedding organization overflow you.
